Saturday, August 7, 2021, 12:00 pm until 1:30 pm
399 Main Street, Greenfield, MA - Red Door on Hope Street
You can also celebrate local indigenous people THIS WEEKEND at Unity Park in Turners Falls, at the 8th Annual Pocumtuck Homelands Festival!
This holiday came about in 1994. The date marks the first meeting, in 1982, of the UN Working Group on Indigenous Populations. This year, the Working Groups's theme is “Leaving no one behind: Indigenous peoples and the call for a new social contract.” As the group states: "Indigenous peoples’ right to participate in decision-making is a key component in achieving reconciliation between indigenous peoples and States. Therefore, a new social contract must combat the legacy of exclusion and marginalization affecting indigenous peoples — through their meaningful and effective participation and the obtainment of their free, prior and informed consent."!
REMINDER: you don't need to RSVP for a meal if you already have a reoccurring order.
