Bill & Charlotte

“We keep coming back because it’s so welcoming! Having recently moved to the area, it’s one of the most welcoming places we’ve found! Volunteering is such a nice way to strengthen the local community.”

Charlotte and Bill started coming to the Cafe in 2020. Originally from Chicago, they moved to Deerfield recently, and they are still adjusting to the northeast. They are especially startled by how it gets dark at 4:30pm in the winter! Bill works in the Math Department at Deerfield Academy teaching calculus, and Charlotte is trained as an Elementary school teacher. They are “dorm parents” and live adjacent to six senior boys on the school’s campus.

They originally heard about Stone Soup Café after doing an internet search for volunteer opportunities in the area. Why do they keep coming back? “We keep coming back because it’s so welcoming!
