“Volunteering is a lot of fun, and it's a great way to stay busy and help out. I've also picked up some cooking-related skills!”
Allison is a remarkable member of our volunteer team here at Stone Soup Café. Allison's journey with us began after hearing about our mission through friends and a local youth group in Greenfield. Since March of 2024, she has volunteered every Friday and Saturday doing meal prep and food service. Incredible dedication! Allison is so dependable! She's smart, community/team-oriented, funny, communicates and listens well. She just turned 15, but her maturity, listening skills, focus, flexibility, and team relationship-building skills are incredible.
What's Allison's favorite aspect of volunteering? It's the chance to connect with diverse individuals and embrace open-mindedness. “It's a lot of fun, and it's a great way to stay busy and help out. I've also picked up some cooking-related skills!”
When she's not lending her time to the Café, Allison indulges her passion for reading. She recommends "Crossings" by Bed Goldfarb, “Of Time and Turtles” by Sy Montgomery, and “The View From Lazy Point” by Carl Saffina.
But that's not all—Allison's interests extend to hiking, spending time with her dog, and diving into her studies. With a fervor for biology, ecology, and herpetology, she's on a mission to explore and advocate for causes close to her heart.
