Board Director
Mike Phillips (he/him) began volunteering with Stone Soup Cafe in 2020. He was hired to work as Prep Shift Manager for a year and then co-created the Stone Soup Culinary Institute where he was an instructor until September 2022.
A loooong time ago Mike worked as East Coast Director for Greenpeace USA (1985-1995). He then retrained himself and worked as an E-commerce Strategist for 25 years. In 2021 he switched careers again and graduated from HCC MGM Culinary Arts Institute in Holyoke, MA and has been operating a food cart business in Western Mass.
In the past 12 years Mike has served on the boards of Thrive Project, LGBT Coalition of Western Massachusetts, Greenfield Local Cultural Council, Commonwealth of Massachusetts Virtual School, and Access to Technology (A2T).
For fun, Mike often attempts to play guitar and sing, has an overwhelming vegetable garden and began rock climbing at age 60. And he likes to cook.
Mike Grew up near Pittsburgh PA and now lives in Greenfield with his wife D'Arcy, their daughter Lennon (15), 2 dogs and a cat. Their daughter Sophia (22) recently graduated from Drexel and lives in Brooklyn NY and their oldest, Shayla (24), lives in Colrain MA.
