Juliana

Community Store Manager

Juliana grew up in Natick, Massachusetts and moved out to Western Massachusetts in 2021 to study at UMass Amherst. She graduated with a degree in Sociology and spent the majority of her time as a student studying solidarity economies. Through engaged research with the Building Solidarity Economies program and work with the Mutual Aid Project at UMass, she was a part of several projects to build diverse economic infrastructure and advance post-capitalist possibilities. As a part of her senior thesis, she helped start a time bank which allows members of the UMass and Amherst community to exchange skills and services using the currency of time. Juliana is a passionate believer that a better world is possible and is excited to continue working within the Massachusetts solidarity economy ecosystem.

While at UMass, she was involved in campus organizing around a number of social justice issues and for two years, she worked with the UMass Permaculture Initiative as a garden crew member and student garden coordinator. Since then, she has worked on a few small sustainable farms in the valley. Juliana joins Stone Soup Cafe with the desire to develop the pay-what-you-can model and is excited to explore building community through the practice of sharing and eating food.

Juliana enjoys spending time with family and friends, growing food and flowers, sewing and discovering other creative hobbies, and hiking, swimming and running throughout the valley.
