A new staff member and a trip to D.C.!

New Farmers Market Manager!

Stone Soup’s presence at local farmers’ markets is about to have a glow-up. We’ve hired a fantastic market manager, Mo Grant!

Mo (they/them) grew up in a small town on the Hudson River in New York and has lived in the Valley on and off since 2017. They have spent the better part of their adult life working with food, from growing it in the fields to preparing it in the kitchen. Community has always been at the heart of what they do, and they are excited to be joining the wonderful team at Stone Soup!

Mo likes hiking with their dog in the woods, baking bread, and doing crossword puzzles. They are taking a big step in the fall by starting nursing school to learn new ways to care for people in need.
You can find Mo selling delicious gluten-free baked goods at both the Greenfield Farmer's Market (1st and 3rd Saturdays) and at the Great Falls Farmer's Market (2nd Saturday of each month).

Every month, you can purchase five different baked goods. Many are vegan, and all are gluten-free.

Here’s what you’ll see this month:

  1. Lemon Crinkle Cookies
  2. Shortbread
  3. Double Chocolate Brownies
  4. Orange Pistachio Cake
  5. Chocolate Cupcakes with Strawberry Vanilla Swirl Icing

Dear friends,

I just returned from the National Anti-Hunger Policy Conference feeling energized and inspired.

I’d like to share my takeaways from the conference in a debrief presentation with you next week.

At the conference, over 1,000 people from 47 states gathered to discuss what’s working, what needs to change, and how to apply these ideas locally. Hearing similar stories from leaders across food banks, nonprofits, and government made one thing clear: we’re not alone, and we have more tools than we think.

The Recorder recently reported that about half of our community doesn’t always have access to healthy, homemade food. At Stone Soup, we’re working to change this.

I hope you will join me at the Café this Wednesday at 5:30 pm for an in-person debrief, or join online this Thursday at noon. Click here to register.

I’m excited to share some new ideas with you,

Kirsten Levit, Executive Director & Chef
