What does it mean to be on the Board of Directors?
It means upholding our mission and core values.
It’s a commitment to being an ambassador for our organization -- volunteering with us so you experience firsthand what our programs are about, staying informed by attending monthly meetings and community events, telling our story and promoting our culture of belonging, asking folks to support our work financially, and asking the big questions that keep us "on mission"!
It means holding financial responsibility for the health and sustainability of our organization.
Board members have legal responsibilities to be financial stewards of our organization. We make sure you are familiar with our annual operating budget, general expenses, and revenue streams. The board approves the budget every year.
It means giving back to your community using your well-honed professional skills.
Board members are experts in many different fields! Some have HR experience, legal experience, food service industry experience, community building experience, social justice prowess, event management chops, and more! Being on a Board means professional growth and resume building if that's something you're into.
It means dedicating 4 to 10 hours a month to Stone Soup Café.
You get to choose how you want to be most involved! We expect monthly attendance at board meetings and one additional sub-committee (like events planning, fundraising, finance, etc). We love board members who are energetic, passionate, and open-minded.
